Llamado urgente de solidaridad con los pueblos Mapuche
Identidad Territorial Lafkenche urge de ayuda para atender a las comunidades del borde costero gravemente afectadas por el terremoto del sábado 27 de febrero.
La solidaridad internacional con los pueblos Mapuche es hoy más urgente que nunca. Así como las voces del mundo se levantaron contra la represión que sufren estas comunidades en Chile, ahora deben unirse todas las manos del planeta para llevar la urgente ayuda a los lakenches del borde costero.
La Coordinadora Andina de Organizaciones Indígenas, CAOI, convoca a las organizaciones indígenas y del movimiento social, a los organismos humanitarios y la comunidad internacional en general, a realizar campañas de solidaridad con estos pueblos, que han perdido sus casas y sus embarcaciones, que son esenciales para su sobrevivencia porque se alimentan del mar.
Los Lafkenche están trabajando en este momento en tres líneas: la coordinación interinstitucional, para aunar esfuerzos; llevar víveres de emergencia a las comunidades y caletas más afectadas, ya que las zonas urbanas están siendo cubiertas por el Estado; y evaluar los efectos en cada lugar para elaborar un plan para las siguientes fases.

Within days of a January 12 earthquake that devastated much of
southern Haiti, the New York Times was using the disaster to promote a
United Nations plan for drastically expanding the country's garment
assembly industry, which employs low-paid workers to stitch apparel
for duty-free export, mainly to the U.S. market. This, according to
several opinion pieces in the Times, is the way to rebuild Haiti.
The outlines of the plan were drawn up a year earlier, in January
2009, by Oxford economist Paul Collier, but the leading proponents of
development through sweatshops have been liberal Democrats in the

Más de 20 millones de personas viven en la pobreza en Colombia y más de 8 en la indigencia, lo que significa que cerca de 30 millones de personas no tienen los recursos suficientes para disfrutar de una viva digna en el país sudamericano.
Así lo dijo Juan Carlos Tanus, Director Ejecutivo Nacional de la Asociación Civil Colombianos en Venezuela.
Desde que en el año 2002 el actual presidente de Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, tomase el poder del estado, la pobreza se había mantenido entre el 53 y el 57%, pero nunca había superado la barrera del 60%. En los últimos meses la indigencia en Colombia se ha multiplicado llegando a afectar a 8 millones de personas, el 17,7% de la población colombiana.

El 8 marzo 1857, unas 40.000 trabajadoras textiles de New York se levantaron en huelga contra las condiciones paupérrimas de trabajo y contra los bajos salarios. Fue el inicio de ese viejo largo camino de resistencia de las mujeres en el mundo.
Cien años cumple la conmemoración del 8 marzo, este día en 1910, en Copenhague, Dinamarca, la 2ª conferencia internacional de mujeres socialistas, declaro que desde ese año, se les rendiría homenaje a las pioneras hilanderas neoyorkinas que señalaron el camino de la mujer como sujeto de cambio social, de la mujer como semilla de rebelión y resistencia.
Después de cien años, en donde estamos en esas luchas reivindicativas y emancipadoras donde las mujeres, poniéndole el pecho a la brisa resisten contra esta sociedad capitalista, patriarcal y oscurantista, que la sigue tratando como una menor de edad.
La sociedad capitalista banaliza la mujer, reduciéndola a objeto sexual de consumación, para vender un carro, un bolígrafo o un simple desodorante, ella deviene por la magia de la imagen y el márquetin un simple objeto que se reduce a unas nalgas, o a unos senos, que vehiculan el mensaje consumista.

 March 8, 2010 will mark 100 years of International Women’s Day. Around the world people will celebrate the contributions of women in the movements to end inequality and exploitation, to insist on the complete liberation of women and to look forward to the day when oppression of all kinds has become a thing of the past.
In 1910, Clara Zetkin, a German socialist, called for an International Women’s Day. She was inspired to do so by the historic struggle of immigrant women garment workers in New York City who were fighting for better working conditions and living wages. At the time, most garment workers didn’t live past their early twenties because of the horrendous working conditions. They went on strike for 13 cold winter weeks – and in the end they were victorious.
A century later women are still fighting for equal pay, full reproductive rights, better health care and a social safety net that ensures our families are taken care of.
Women are paid 80 cents on the dollar for comparable work. If women were given equal pay for comparable work, the U.S. poverty rate would be cut in half.
Now we find ourselves in the worst economy since the Great Depression. Women, who disproportionately fill the ranks of the poor and people on social services, feel this crisis most acutely. This is even truer for oppressed nationality women – African American, Chicano, Latino, Asian, Arab and Native American – who suffer from both racial and gender discrimination. Politicians are trying to balance state budgets by slashing social services and government programs. All the while the United States is sending troops and money to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and bailing out big banks and giant corporations.
On International Women’s Day we salute the women throughout history who have stood up against injustice in our society and those women who continue to fight for change and a better future.

 La ultraderecha estadounidense resurge de manera alarmante un año y dos meses después de la llegada de Barack Obama a la Casa Blanca. El último informe del Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC), el grupo de derechos civiles más importante de EEUU, afirma que los grupos de extremistas “patrióticos” ha aumentado en un 244% con respecto a 2008.
Según el SPLC el número de estos grupos alcanza niveles históricos, incluso pese a que la segunda formación neonazi del país se disolvió en 2009. De los datos se desprende que los grupos anti inmigración han crecido un 80% y que los denominados grupos patrióticos han vuelto a niveles de los años 90.
La explicación está, según la organización, en las teorías conspiratorias que propagan algunos medios ultraconservadores como Fox News y el sentimiento de rabia contra el Gobierno por la crisis económica.

1. JOIN THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEASANT STRUGGLE
Dear Friends of the MST,
Each year, in April, the MST and its allies call on people around the world to join in support of the struggle for agrarian reform. This year Via Campesina has framed the struggle for peasant rights and agrarian reform as the struggle against corporate control of food and agriculture (see below). This, of course, is in conformity with the focus of the MST following the Fifth Congress in 2007. For those of us living in countries that are the home to transnational agro-business, the struggle to support agrarian reform in Brazil is the same struggle we have here for food free of toxins, hormones and GMO’s; for family and cooperative based production and distribution of food; and for respect for the land and the ecology of the earth. Today, there is no separation between the struggle for agrarian reform and the struggle for sustainable agriculture. The Friends of the MST urge everyone to plan something in their communities on or around April 17th to support the International Day of Peasant Struggle. In the eternal ping-pong match pitting The Bronx against Brooklyn, NYC’s Anarchist Black Cross collective continues to bounce back and forth between the city’s best boroughs (sorry Manhattan, your reign is through). This week we’re back in The Bronx, at the ever-amazing Red Roots Community Arts Space.
March is women’s history month, but we’re not focusing on Emelia Earhart or Hillary Clinton. No, we’re writing to three women from the MOVE 9, political prisoners who have been locked up for over thirty years.
The MOVE 9 are innocent men and women who have been imprisoned since 1979, following a massive police assault on MOVE headquarters in Powerton Village, Philadelphia (seven years before this assault the government dropped a bomb on MOVE killing 11 people, including 5 children).
A NOTE ON THE LOCATION: To our regulars from Brooklyn, you’ve stuck with us so far, please make the trip uptown! It will be worth it to check out this awesome space! To everybody who lives uptown and complains that it’s too far to come down and write letters in Brooklyn: now is your chance! See you on Tuesday!
The deal, as always, is that you come bringing only yourself (and your friends and comrades), and we provide you with a delicious meal, information about a political prisoner or group of prisoners as well as all the letter-writing materials and prisoner-letter-writing info you could ever want to use in one evening. In return, you write a thoughtful letter to a political prisoner or prisoner of war of your choosing or, better yet, keep up a long-term correspondence. We’ll also provide some brief updates and, thanks to the Anarchist Birthday Brigade, pass around a birthday card for the PPs and POWs whose birthdays fall in the next two weeks. Don’t miss this!

Entre las muchas insensateces que se han escrito a propósito de la llegada de Obama a la Casa Blanca, figura en un lugar preeminente la de que su llegada a la presidencia de los Estados Unidos representa el final de la opresión racial y la culminación de la lucha por los derechos civiles de los años sesenta. Para cualquier persona que se haya asomado o que viva en los barrios y ciudades de afroamericanos y latinos en California (Oaklad, Compton Richmond, Watts, Barrio Logan, East Los Angeles, etc.) esto no puede ser más que una broma cruel de la burguesía blanca estyadounidense. Las condiciones de opresión, pobreza, encarcelamiento indiscriminado y acoso policial en estos barrios no sólo no han mejorado sino que se han deteriorado desde la llegada de Obama a la Casa Blanca. El desempleo, por ejemplo, afecta de manera desproporcionadamente alta a los afroamericanos sin que se hayan previsto medidas para paliarlo. De manera paralela, la administración Obama ha aumentado el presupuesto y los poderes legales de Janet Napolitano, la secretaria de Homeland Security, para coordinar tanto a la policía de inmigración (ICE por sus siglas en inglés) como a los otros cuerpos de seguridad del Estado federales y estatales en su campaña de acoso y deportación de trabajadores latinos indocumentados.
