PACE UNIVERSITY, MARCH 16 – 18 – NYC
Join us this year for another exciting and interesting conference on some of the most pressing issues of our time. With the last year filled with political and cultural uprisings, we are proud to announce this year’s theme:
Occupy the System: Confronting Global Capitalism
Beginning with the celebrated Arab Spring and the explosive revolts in Greece and beyond uprisings against dictators, crony capitalism, corporate greed and neo-liberal state austerity regimes have spread across the globe. Laura Paskell-Brown, a lecturer and graduate student based in New York, spoke to Socialist Worker about the Wall Street occupation. CONTINUE LEYENDO (Continue reading) Occupy Wall Street: ‘A new generation is fighting back’

Eternity is a beautiful, spirited, diabolical young African woman whose life is stigmatized by a heart-stopping secret. Following her through the arms of a domineering Fela Kuti–type rap star and revolutionary named Sea Horse Twee, through several West African rebellions, Europe and the U.S., Boof skilfully weaves a sociopolitcal love story out of the life of her remarkable heroine. In addition to “The Sexy Part of the Bible,” Kola Boof is the author of several novels and poetry collections. CONTINUE LEYENDO (Continue reading) BLUESTOCKINGS LATE JULY EVENTS

It shouldn’t be long before there’s a holiday a month that can be reduced down to waving the flag and shedding a single tear for the sentimental myth of how great this nation is. The state and capital still keep the yoke tightly around our necks, making sure we nurse from the teat of misinformation that is corporate media.
